Choosing the Right Standing Desk Frame – Any Experience or Advice?

Hey folks, I’ve been looking into setting up a new workstation at home and I’ve realized my current desk just isn’t cutting it anymore—especially during long hours of work. My back and neck feel the strain by mid-day. I’ve read a bit about height-adjustable setups and I’m leaning toward a standing desk frame instead of buying a full desk. The idea is to customize the top part myself since I already have a solid wood surface I’d like to reuse.

What I’m not sure about is how to choose the standing desk frame https://www.progressivedesk.com/collections/desk-frames. There are all these dual-motor vs. single-motor options, different frame sizes, weight capacities, speed, noise levels, and I’ve seen frames that can extend pretty wide, even to fit extra long tops. I don’t care much about looks—just need something stable, quiet, and durable for daily use. I also want to make sure I’m not overlooking anything like cable management or control panel placement. Anyone here gone through this before? What would you recommend watching out for?

One thing I didn’t consider was how much space the legs would take under the desk, especially near my chair wheels. I ended up adjusting my under-desk storage to work around the frame's crossbar. Also, check the weight capacity—not just for your desktop but also for monitors, speakers, and whatever else you usually keep up there. If you’ve got a dense wood top, that can add up quickly
