WHAT IS TRANSFORMATIONAL NARRATIVE?

^

A good story is one of the most powerful and important forces in our world. Stories can heal, connect, and influence change. It's more important now than ever that as humans, we study story and understand how they work and how they reflect and shift the waves of humanity.

TRANSFORMATIONAL

NARRATIVE

How is change achieved? The priority of Narrative Transformation is shared by storytellers and healers, activists and leaders, dreamers, seekers, hearts and minds. The study of Narrative Transformation extends from mythology and ritual studies to psychology and screenwriting, dream interpretation and marketing, business and communications, philosophy and literature, travel and tours, game design, architecture, user experience – the list goes on. Our effort is to bring these siloed studies into a common conversation around the application of narrative to the purposes of change.

MYTH POETICS & CULTURE

I believe the red thread that runs through all five classes is an exploration of mytho-poetics, both personal and cultural. We each shape and are shaped by a particular mythos, a way of seeing, a corridor of awakening, as well as the discernment of what gives our life meaning and purpose.

MYTHIC MOTIFS

Mythic Motifs appear in dreams and state narratives, fables and films, marketing and politics. They convey wisdom and empower art. From creation and flood myths to resurrection and the renewal of wastelands, Mythic Motifs inspire questions of universal resonance and the logic of poetic metaphor, collective (un)consciousness, cultural diffusion, body, cosmos, and the imagination. The portals below are designed to provide nutrients and nourishment for seeking souls and thoughtful creatives.

PSYCHLES

Psychles are cycles into which the psyche projects. Primary emphasis is on the recurring narratives that have conditioned consciousness for longer than the human body. The sun’s journey through day and night, the monthly renewal of the moon, the seasons of our solar year, these are older than the mortal cycle, procreation and dream, which themselves serve as narrative psychles. From the earliest to the most recent human stories, we find them patterned after the narrative rhythms of our celestial and mortal clocks—after the journeys of light and life.

THE MYTH SALON

The Myth Salon is all about cultivating community – bringing people and ideas into a delicious convergence every month to explore ideas of substance. Dr. Will Linn and Dr. Dana C White, the indefatigable moderators of our Myth Salon, congregate the mythological community to explore upon this rich and fertile path, and increase the amperage of myth and substance wherever we are. When we nurture and sustain our community relations and involvement, we all benefit!
